Developmental Science Network Zurich (DSN-ZH)

Welcome!

testbild_welcome

The Developmental Science Network Zurich (DSN-ZH) is a newly founded Center of Competence with participating researchers from different disciplines at the UZH who investigate development and developmental changes across

  • the entire life span of an individual person
  • different species
  • different scales (from molecules to whole societies)
  • different scientific approaches (fundamental, clinical, translational, applied)

What is Developmental Science?
Broadly speaking, Developmental Science is the scientific study of continuity and change in a person's whole life span.
Important and more comprehensive insights and knowledge about normative and divergent developmental processes can be gained by investigating the development of nonhuman species as well as by taking different cultures and historical times into account. Developmental Science is thus a highly interdisciplinary venture, tackling the complexities of human development from a psychological, educational, sociological, medical, biological and largely comparative perspective.

Mission

The role of the network is to act as a platform for

  • connecting researchers across the disciplines and professional fields
  • exchanging knowledge and expertise, theories, methods and perspectives
  • sharing data collections
  • fostering inter- and transdisciplinary research projects and training
  • organizing joint scientific events and outreach activities
  • promoting knowledge transfer to schools, the health sector and political institutions
  • contributing to solving real-world problems and social policy issues
